Thank you!
I'm a fan of diversity and the unusual. When I say unusual, I mean things like my home being a bed-and-breakfast for traveling musicians all my life. Giving my bed up for lead singers and sleeping on the couch. Having a pantry door signed by Folk Soul Revival and Hayes Carll (among many other bands and musicians). Being allowed into a bar at age 13 to play guitar with a local band. I value the unusual because it keeps life interesting.
So, I keep moving. I don’t stick to acoustic guitar; I learn electric and the ukulele. I don’t drive just a car; I ride motorcycles. I don’t stick to long boarding; I learn skateboarding, wake boarding, and snowboarding. I find one thing I love and run with it until I find more.
I keep growing because there is nothing interesting about staying put. If I hadn’t taken a journalism class when I thought I wanted to major in physics, I wouldn’t have a BA in Public Relations and Advertising through the UNC Hussman School of Media and Journalism. If I hadn’t taken a random fiction class, I wouldn’t have a minor in Creative Writing and I wouldn't have taken Poetry or Sketch Comedy classes. Change is scary, but it can lead to the unusual – and that's the goal.
Don’t get stuck in your ways. Reach out and let's create!
